Spring Clean with Free Tools

By Living Room Realty, March 31, 2022

Part and parcel of becoming a homeowner is suddenly becoming a painter, a fixer, and a landscaper too! It can be daunting to tackle the tidy-ups when you don’t have the perfect tool for the job, and don’t have the budget to “spring” for (pardon the pun) every new toy at the home improvement store. Enter Portland’s Free Tool Libraries! Five libraries are located around Portland, brimming with gadgets and gear to help you glow up your habitat. Accessibility over ownership is their motto! While the hours are limited, and sure – they may not be located right next door to you, the inventory is impressive and the price can’t be beat. The Green Lents Community Tool Library in the heart of the Lents Neighborhood has an up-to-the-minute account online of the tools available, from lawnmowers to ladders to levels. They also collect hard-to-recycle plastics to repurpose and keep out of the wastestream. These organizations have helped create a sense of community in each neighborhood. See what your neighborhood tool library has to offer.
