Spring in the garden

Spring is here once again. Thank goodness! What a welcome surprise (somehow spring does always surprise me a bit- I know it’s coming but have about lost hope just when it finally arrives). What a joy to feel the sun, hear the birds, and see the blossoms and flowers. Now’s the time I start thinking about my garden. I know many more committed gardeners have been planning all winter, but I need to see the sun before I’m drawn back to the garden. Long ago I found the Portland Nursery’s guide to vegetable planting and have found it to be a foolproof guide. It’s about the first day of Spring that I get my old printed copy out for inspiration.
