Here I am Day 9 of the pandemic writing about real estate. Portland is mostly shut down. People are being asked to shelter in place which simply means stay home. As I often focus on the story of the last house I helped sell or buy I’m looking at our current situation and what that means to me in this crazy time.
I spent the last 2 ½ months helping my friend Kelly sell her condo and find the house she’s always wanted. It’s perfect! Just the right amount of everything. I remember this feeling when I bought my house. Just the right amount of work to do, the right amount of space to grow into, the right amount of what we needed. A place to make memories together. As I sit in my office down in the basement that was once only meant for storage I look at what we made in the last 8 years. All of the projects we have done together, all the good things we made great. The time we’ve spent in the yard moving dirt, sand and gravel to create beautiful outdoor spaces. Following the sun around the yard to find the perfect place for the perfect garden. Watching our children wander through that garden eating the fruits and veggies they helped plant. Now most recently as we are asked to shelter in our home I see a sanctuary customized for our family. I feel the security and comfort we helped build. With all of this I’m still able to see a palate that will always change with us as we all grow here at home together. This is a feeling I thought I’d never be able to achieve. I didn’t really know what it was.
This Virus is serious and we need to take the right steps to minimize the exposure. It’s frightening at times. The one thing that has gotten us through was the comfort of loves ones at home together. I want this for everyone. This feeling I didn’t even know existed until our world changed. I’m glad Kelly found this and I can’t wait until she feels what I have felt by creating the perfect space for my family. I hope you can find this if you haven’t all ready.
