Staying Close for the Kids

By Living Room Realty, November 20, 2018

When I got a call from my client/friend Nikki, I assumed it would be about the rental home I was selling for her but I was wrong. She told me she found a house that was about to hit the market just one block down from where she, her husband and their three elementary aged kids currently lived.

She then shared with me the tough decision they had made to end their marriage and the intense need to stay geographically close for the kids. Houses in this neighborhood very rarely turn over and it was her only shot at staying there.

As soon as I knew the whole story we went to work contacting the listing agent and preparing a strong offer along with a compelling letter to the sellers. Two short days later we were in contract, beating out an all cash offer. We knew we had to deliver on timelines and open communication to stay in contract so I lined up all inspections right away. The home needed a lot of work so we even met with architects, home designers, foundation specialists and more so when Nikki closed on her new home she was lined up to obtain permits and get construction started!

I can’t wait to see what she does with this beautiful home and am so happy to know I was part of keeping these sweet kids close to both parents.
