Who among us has not at some point in time wished to just “chuck it all” and sail off in a new direction? Meet my adventurous buyers known by friends and family as the “Rascals”, whose favorite refrigerator magnet would read, “Never give up your Dreams”; – and they boldly set forth living them……
Changed jobs, sold the comfortable suburban home with all its’ expected amenities, goodbye cars, packed up the three kids and headed out to the north of France! Central heating was now from the cavernous fireplace in their 17th century, country stone house. The dishwasher was now the hands of whomever drew the task that evening. Television? New Seasons? Starbucks? Culture shock on so many levels. New schools filled with strangers who speak an even stranger language. Strange days, indeed. Soon it’s another year, time for a new quest and it’s off for the vitality of city life in the south of France. So the wonderful, enriching and unforgettable adventure continued…..
When the time came to return home to family and friends, this unusual family was not going to be satisfied with the “usual” new home. And I had the privilege of sharing their next exploration, helping to find the unique home that will keep the adventure alive. Securing that special prize was a fascinating and exciting search, with all the twists and turns one could hope for.
This modern-day “Swiss Family Robinson” landed not a desert island, but a “Treasure Island”, in just the right area of the city. A distinctive, individually crafted home, on a large, private lot creating the best of both worlds: an embracing woods begging for tree houses and rope bridges, and a river flowing out front which will be an endless source of future odysseys.
I am so pleased that this amazing family has found the perfect home from which to continue their intrepid adventures……Oh, the places they’ll go!
