There are three basic styles of homes. A detached house, a high-rise, and somewhere in the middle lives the town and row houses. Personally, I love living in a high-rise! Covered deeded parking, concierge, 24 hour security, a view, no packages sitting on the door step all day, a dog walker- I simply love the convenience! Some want their yard for pets and gardening, privacy, the ability to play their music as loud as they want- certainly each home style has its perks! Andrea was coming from out of state, selling two traditional homes to purchase a house in Portland! Trying to learn the lay of the land in a very short time, I was excited to try and explain what each pocket of the city had to offer. As a young artist explaining her wish list (small bungalow, yard, parking, heavy diversity), I assumed that she would be drawn to the Alberta, Mississippi or Hawthorne area. A few months later we got to work finding a home; I was surprised to hear that not only did she want to live in the Pearl- but she loved high-rises! (A girl after my own heart). She was hell bent on a unit she viewed at an open house in a particular building, but I had to break heart and tell her it went pending just a few days prior. Optimistic- I came up with a list that I thought would interest her and we spent the day touring several units. As I tend to strategically do, I saved what I thought was the best for last. Her eyes widened as we turned the corner to Whole Foods, Powells Bookstore, Starbucks, Sushi and several ice cream shops steps away from what could be her new home. To her genuine surprise.. the building I insisted we tour, she fell in absolute love with! The next day we made an offer and had a smooth 2 week close! Congrats on a beautiful new home, I couldn’t be happier for her (and a smidge jealous)!
