There’s nothing like “great timing” in the adventures of home buying. My buying clients J & H were glowing yesterday when we met up at their spectacular home on closing day. Giving them their new keys and a few celebratory gifts was a such a meaningful way to be a lil part of their start to 2021. As we walked through the home, taking in the gorgeous wainscoting in the dining room and high ceilings throughout, J turned to me to confess she had been watching the Portland market daily, comparing their purchase price to everything else that was out there. “We can’t believe we got this steal! It’s crazy to see how we are walking in here with immediate equity on day one!” she smiled. Hearing this brings me so much happiness.
While Winter is not a common time to purchase a new home, I would guess that everyone who has been house hunting this season would agree there’s nothing “common” about this Covid Winter. J & H were fabulous to work with as buyers for many reasons, one of which was their understanding of the power to jump during a holiday weekend. We toured some really gorgeous homes all over the city before selecting this turn of the century charmer in Woodlawn. Centrally located, with a beautiful yard, dreamy layout on 3 stories, with updates all around, they knew this would be competitive but so worth reaching for. They ended up grabbing this gem with terms stronger than the other higher offers, and it was smooth sailing with wonderful sellers and a great listing team.
