Milwaukie: One of Portland’s Hidden Gems

By Steve Brian, June 10, 2021

Milwaukie is one of Portland-metro’s hidden gems.  There is so much to see and experience. The small business community that has grown over the years is nothing short of amazing. Whatever you like to do, you will always be able to find something that you will enjoy.

Go explore Bob’s Red Mill Headquarters. You can enjoy seeing how the mill works and how we get all their delicious products. They offer daily tours and you even get a free sample at the end of it. What is a tour without a gift shop? Theirs is top-teir. See every product Bob’s Red Mill has made and get all your favorites.

If you are in need of some fresh air go to Elk Rock Island. A 1.3 mile hike sitting on a 40-million-year-old exposed volcano it makes it one of the oldest places in the Portland area . This park is a great place to bring the whole family, and take in the beautiful view. The water and the vegetation make this place so special and a must-see!

Finally, if you are looking for that Portland thrift experience, you need to go to Red White & Blue Thrift Store. This cash-only thrift always has the best hidden gems. You could easily spend hours here just looking through their large array of goods. You always leave so excited to take home all your goodies that you didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for.

This is only a taste of what this great city has to offer. What’s your favorite place in Milwaukie?
