The world feels like a wildly raging storm at the moment because, well…it is. And when things are chaotic, when people are being buffeted by the winds of the unknown, we grasp for whatever can help us feel grounded, and safe, and anchored. Nothing tops that list more often than HOME. Not just a house. A home.
Contrary to what many assume, the housing market is very active in this moment of chaos (a seemingly endless moment). At least for those of us fortunate enough to find ourselves in this green corner of the country. Portlanders here for many years are looking for the first home or the next home, somewhere to put down roots and weather the storm. And many of those moving to Portland are fleeing less safe cities and states, looking for a new place to call home.
I have so much more to say on this topic, and more is on the way. For the moment, hang onto this bit of hope. Our fair city is a safe haven for so many, a place to put down roots and find home. For many of us lucky enough to have been here for years, and for many who are heading our way. Let’s open our arms and make room. For more neighbors, more community, more safety. More shelter from the storm, more home.
