Blog Buyer Greener Thumbs

Greener Thumbs

By Alyssa Starelli, January 17, 2022

Embracing one’s inner-gardener (or sourdough baker) might have become an institution during the ongoing pandemic, but realizing your herbivore inspirations have bloomed into a real passion and require a major yard-upgrade, is a much bigger thing.

Luka had gone from no garden city apartment, to a reasonably sized urban lot, but found out during the pandemic that a love for vegetable gardening meant that growing kale in a perfectly sunny plot was more important than lawn and shrubs, by far. It meant that they could forego the crowded and viral grocery store and merely step outside to grab dinner.  The deeper this realization set in, they realized they needed a micro-farm to truly embrace this flavorful and healthy hobby.  When shopping for new homes, Luka focused on the lay of the land: where the sun would hit the best garden areas, where a chicken coop might go, and which trees would cause or provide shade. Sure the house mattered, they wanted a cute mid-century ranch. But luckily, cute mid-century ranches go hand in hand with large lots and December dropped the perfect package right in our hands!  Luka recently closed on this darling 1960’s home with a huge sunny lot which will soon be populated by happy plants and a happy owner with even greener thumbs!

Ps. If you’re big on established veggies and want your own urban garden oasis, tune in for a new listing Thursday!
