Navigating the Portland Market: First-Time Homebuyer Success!

By Genmae Rianelli, May 13, 2024

It was kismet for Sofie and Elijah who began their home buying journey just as the market was picking up after the holidays. I brought in fellow Living Room Realty broker, Carrie Struss to help me find these sweet first-time homebuyers a new home and we dove into the search head first!

From fixer-uppers brimming with potential to move-in ready remodels, we explored a range of options. Sofie and Elijah were drawn to the character of older Portland homes but also wanted something move-in ready and were on the hunt for a home near their family.

The first house the couple eyed attracted 13 offers, signaling the start of quite the adventure! But these two were ready for the challenge and eager to secure their first home.

When we found “the one”, it was crystal clear! This house had the perfect blend of Portland charm and move-in ready ease; it’s something that they can live in and love that also offers the space to truly make the home their own.

We went through inspections and Carrie and I negotiated a credit toward their closing costs in lieu of repairs. This means more money in their pocket right now and allows them to be in control of coordinating the repairs after closing.

Handing over the keys to Sofie and Elijah’s very first home was a moment of pure joy and excitement! A huge congratulations to these two! I’m so happy that you landed in a spot you love close to family!
