from basement shows to showing basements

I recently helped a fellow musician buy her first house.

I think she was a little surprised that I knew how to do it. Our previous interactions had almost entirely taken place in various backstages or in sketchy basement shows.

I remember going to a financial advice workshop for artists yeas ago. The facilitator asked two questions: “Who feels confident financially?” And “Who owns property?” The same smattering of people raised our hands. This stuck with me.

I love helping artists find a permanent place to live.
