Recently I discovered this really cool service! They come every two weeks and take away used batteries, light bulbs, textiles, plastic junk and more! On the day of the first visit, they offered up to 5 extra bags, up to 30 gallons each at no extra charge. This was amazing and gave me the impetus to clear out the garage and get rid of years of bubble wrap and the like. For an extra 9 bucks, they took about 3 years worth of styrofoam packaging. Anyway, I am loving this clean way of getting rid of stuff and getting rid of it well. They give and recycle and keep it all out of the landfill. Woo-hoo!
Making it even cooler, they do special drives, partnering with organizations that distribute things to those in need. This week they collected lightly used bras, working with http://www.giftoflift.org/. Next time they are collecting and upcycling outer wear with https://refleece.com/.
