Alec and Kelly had been casually looking for a home for awhile when they called me. Their main goal was to find a great house that also had an ADU for Kelly’s mom. Being hip and young they wanted a home in a great, walkable location. The first home they wanted to see fit the bill, with one notable exception: it was a mess. The actual house had a lot of charm but it needed absolutely EVERYTHING to make it what they wanted to be, including major repairs on the ADU space. I spent my time with Alec and Kelly at the property talking about all of the odds and ends I saw. I pointed out the great features as well as my concerns, like the bulge in the back part of the foundation. I loved the couple’s vision, but this one was a lot of work!
After careful thought, Alec and Kelly moved on. They decided to wait until something a bit more finished came on the market. Several months later, they found it: a gorgeous Victorian with an ADU right in the Kearns neighborhood. They adored Kearns and knew the area well. They also absolutely loved the history and charm of the property- it even had some speakeasy roots during prohibition! This was the home for them. We were able to negotiate a great price, and even some repair concessions in this crazy market. Alec and Kelly got the keys on Saturday and I am so thrilled for them!
You might have heard the term "MLS" thrown around when talking about real estate. Maybe you’ve seen abbreviations like RMLS or NWMLS. Maybe you’ve wondered how sites like Zillow actually get their data. So let’s talk about what the MLS actually is, why it exists, and why it matters to you.
