Holding out for Hawthorne

Brian and Mika were determined to stay in their neighborhood, no small challenge, and they did it! New Portlanders arriving from all across the country love the Portland lifestyle -walking, biking, taking in the lush foliage and fabulous food. The neighborhoods that ‘have it all’ can be super competitive! Finding the right rental is tough and committing to a first home purchase can be down right hair raising.

Having scored a rental house in the bustling Hawthorne corridor in ever popular, close-in SE PDX, the thought of giving up that vibe would have been too much of a bummer to contemplate. Most of the available homes in the zone were too small, in poor condition, had weird (and not in the good Keep Portland Weird way) floor plans and were generally disappointing. The best homes often elicit bidding wars pushing them out of reach.

Tenacity paid off and a lovely modern home with just enough of a nod to the older homes surrounding it, had a deal fall apart, so Mika and Brian swooped in and snatched it up. Kismet~ this hand crafted beauty was the builder’s own, one owner, custom home. Just blocks from their rental house the transition was a cinch.

They are loving their new home! This is why I love my job.
