Renovate or Relocate? That is the question.

By Cristen Lincoln, July 16, 2019

The big question, to renovate or to move. Even if we love our home we often wish it was bigger or had another bathroom or a better kitchen etc. It can be a tough decision to stay or go.

Aaron and Camilla considered all the options. They loved their community in NE Portland and the house they lived in but they ultimately felt it would be too costly and too disruptive for their family to do the remodeling needed in order to stay.  Moving was the best option. They both wanted a larger lot with lots of green space to enjoy with their daughter.  Camilla wanted a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor for her mom to stay in when she comes and stays.

They initially hoped they could find something in their current neighborhood, but after an exhaustive search we realized we would have to go to the westside to find a home with a large enough lot to meet their needs. One weekend while checking out neighborhoods, they walked into an open house in NW Portland. They walked in curious and walked out wanting to write an offer right away. We got it done and they will be moving in soon.  This home has a magical setting with great outdoor spaces for entertaining, space for Mom, and a bonus tree house their daughter will be playing in for years to come. For this family, relocation was the right move!
