That Collaborative Life

By Living Room Realty, June 2, 2020

One of my philosophies on real estate is that transactions are meant to be a collaborative experience. I recently had the pleasure of representing my lovely buyers in the purchase of a home that was listed by an agent from my previous John L Scott office. She is a great friend of mine, an amazing realtor, and this transaction was easily the smoothest deal of my 5 year career. We communicated respectfully, consistently and effectively the whole time. And guess what? Everyone is walking away feeling like it was a win for them. My goal is always to work towards a win-win, and it feels so good every time it happens. Negotiations don’t have to be intense to be successful! Successful negotiations have 7 essential elements: 1) always be prepared 2) find common ground 3) don’t take it personally 4) don’t try to prove someone wrong 5) keep the momentum going 6) be willing to walk away 7) everybody wins…..and if I could actually add one more….8) work with friends who are awesome!
