When Clients Become Neighbors

By Kim Parmon, November 25, 2020

Miranda called me a couple of months ago after reading an interview I gave in The Oregonian about buying property in the suburbs.  She had been living in Portland for the last year with her husband Denis and their small son.  They were officially “suburbs-curious.”  They wanted more space and a nice yard.  Being in a neighborhood with a lot of trees was a big plus.  I listened to their needs and suggested some neighborhoods to them so they could go check them out.

We looked at a variety of homes together, and then “the one” popped up.  It happened to be listed by one of my wonderful colleagues at Living Room.  It also happened to be in my own neighborhood in Milwaukie.  I knew that it would sell quickly in multiple offers, so we went to check it out right away.  Miranda and Denis loved the quiet street, the large yard, and the space for a home office.  Denis is a baker and he especially loved how close the home is to Bob’s Red Mill, where he can buy wonderful baking materials for his business.  And, to top it all off, their son fell in love with the yard’s resident caterpillars.  It was a win for all parties!

As I expected, this home received many, many offers.  The combination of my clients’ strong offer and my relationship with the list agent won out in the end.  Miranda and Denis closed on this wonderful home on Monday and I am so excited to have amazing new neighbors!
