Combining Two Passions: Real Estate and Steel Drum Music

Last month, Living Room Realty hosted its annual State of the Union meeting — a time for our brokerage to reflect on the past year and recognize agents and teams for their business and community achievements.

In addition to receiving a few honors — including being part of one of the brokerage’s Top 5 teams, selling the most homes on the West Side of Portland, and achieving the highest individual sale of the year — I had the unique pleasure of blending two important parts of my life: music and real estate.

I was invited to provide the entertainment for the event, so I brought my band and my steel pan to help set the tone. We played as guests arrived and kicked off the program with a high-energy steel drum performance.

It was incredibly fun to share my music with colleagues and fellow Realtors, and equally special to give my bandmates a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the culture of a top independent real estate brokerage.

My family and I have lived on both sides of the river, and we spend a lot of our down time at the coast in Manzanita. My real estate business and family keep me very busy but whenever possible I get out on the courts to compete in tennis leagues and tournaments, and I recently started playing Pickleball. I also mix in the occasional gig or young audiences performance with local jazz group Trashcan Joe.
