I was fortunate enough to move to Portland in the 90s after growing up in Maryland and then attending college in Texas.
My professional life started with owning and operating a music school and recording studio in SE Portland.
Eventually I was drawn to real estate both as an investor and subsequently as a consultant to homebuyers and sellers as well as fellow real estate investors.
My family and I have lived on both sides of the river, and we spend a lot of our down time at the coast in Manzanita.
My real estate business and family keep me very busy but whenever possible I get out on the courts to compete in tennis leagues and tournaments, and I recently started playing Pickleball. I also mix in the occasional gig or young audiences performance with local jazz group Trashcan Joe.
Yascha assisted us in the very successful sale of our Portland home.
We had not been involved in selling/buying a home for over 25 years, his current knowledge of the market guided us in the preparation of our home for the best possible result. He had wonderful advice and the repair/painting/moving professionals he referred us to were each excellent to work with and fairly priced. But above all, what we appreciated most was his swift responsiveness and wonderful and warm personality. He was terrific to work with, start to finish!
Our search for a home began almost a year ago when we decided it might be time to leave our hometown of Los Angeles, California and follow our hearts to Portland, Oregon. We were new to the market, somewhat unfamiliar with the lay of the land, and completely clueless about the steps to buying a home. By some miracle, we found Yascha through a listing on Zillow, and we instantly felt like we were in good hands....Yascha never made us feel like we were wasting their time, and his easy-going, no-pressure approach gave us the confidence to know that we could come back to him when the time was right. Yascha helped to make a typically stressful process go smoothly, and we learned so much along the way. Not only was he our agent, but we felt like he was our mentor and a dear friend. Yascha is the perfect match for any first-time buyer who is unfamiliar with the road ahead. We feel incredibly lucky to have found him, and we can confidently say that we would not have made it through the process without his knowledge, instinct, and guidance. Thank you, Yascha!
Yascha helped us buy a home in a very tough market. We recently moved from the East Coast and initially felt lost in the process in figuring out the right neighborhood. Yascha impressed us with his knowledge of Portland neighborhoods and had a good read on us. He wisely steered us away from a few properties that were not the right fit. As soon as our home came on the market, he acted swiftly and got us in the door. We submitted a strong offer with his expert guidance that was accepted out of many other strong offers. Most importantly, he's a wonderful person to work with. We highly recommend him!
As a first time homebuyer, the entire process of purchasing a home is a daunting and intimidating prospect. The purchaser is almost entirely dependent on the advice received by his or her realtor. From the very beginning of our explorations, Yascha's integrity and enthusiasm in providing outstanding recommendations was absolutely apparent. He was extremely understanding of my needs in a home, and detailed the benefits of each prospective property. We were able to make a selection and offer on a home after our very first day of exploration (quite a feat considering that my wife and I often have extreme difficulty just deciding what to eat for dinner). Yascha provided expert analysis and best-practices to help us determine an appropriate proposal, and was able to negotiate a very fair price for us. The entire process was so easy, in fact, that we actually ended up owning our home almost a full month prior than originally anticipated; giving us ample time to perform customizations and enhancements prior to moving in. Along the way, Yascha also provided referrals to every necessary component; and every single individual he recommended provided the same impressive level of service. Based off of our experience, we have already referred several individuals to work with Yascha to purchase their first homes. My wife and I are so appreciative of the consultative nature of Yascha's approach. A realtor is, ultimately, an advocate for the purchaser, and a foundation of absolute trust is essential to help navigate the unknown waters of home purchasing. Yascha is absolutely an asset, not only to his clients, but his industry as a whole as an example of how realtors should strive to conduct business.
The Portland housing market is nuts. We never would have landed a house without Yascha's expertise. Before this we didn't appreciate how much having a very knowledgeable realtor could help us. We thought it was just internet searches and timing. It was so much more. Yascha helped us to manage expectations, understand marketing strategies and buyer/seller perception, and set realistic goals. Every step of the way he was there for us. He helped us find contractors for bids on siding, radon, plumbing. We needed to sell our house in order to be able to buy another. I was a bit panicked about the timing of all of this but Yascha's knowledge and experience made this a smooth transition. He handled all of the messy details and we got to enjoy the fun and exciting parts about home buying and selling. As a communicator he is efficient and thorough. He responded quickly and clearly to all of our gazillion questions/emails/calls. His staff was also very responsive and helpful. The one attribute which stood out to me the most though was his emotional intelligence. He expends great effort and takes pride in his professional dealings, his integrity, and his personal and professional relationships. On more than one occasion, it was this aspect of his character which helped us to succeed in buying a great home.
