Mutual Admiration Society

By Constance Rigney, November 18, 2022

I first met my magical, musical client, Bonnie, when she was my daughter’s Music Together teacher.

If you have been a parent of a little person in the greater Portland area in the last 20 years, chances are you have heard of the Music Together program.  And, if you and your kiddos have had the joyous opportunity to be a part of that program, then you know how very special it is. For those of you who don’t know, let me tell you a little bit about it….

Music Together is a weekly class that parents/care-givers/grandparents/uncles/aunts, etc., attend with their children (aged 0-8) that is full of dancing, singing, movement-making, and almost every expression of joy you can imagine!  All done TOGETHER!   (You can find out more details about Music Together here https://www.musictogether-pdx.com/program-overview.html)

My daughter, Roslyn, and I started attending these classes when she was still toddling around.  And, until we met Bonnie and became part of the Music Together community, I had no idea how much I loved or had missed making music with other people.  Sharing songs, and playing instruments I had never played, goofing around with adults and kids I had never met before was so freeing and unifying.  It really was a place where you could leave your worries at the door, and could leave with a much fuller heart than when you arrived.  Music Together was truly one of my favorite parts of Roslyn’s early childhood.

And, Bonnie was our radiant ring-leader!  She held space for everyone, made everything fun, was silly, and passionate, and so full of musical knowledge. I was totally inspired by and in awe of her.  Bonnie has brought so much wonder and delight to thousands of families over her 22 years of running Music Together in Portland—she is a local treasure!

So, it really was an honor when Bonnie reached out to me to let me know that she was thinking of selling her home, and asked me to guide her in her home selling process.

Though Bonnie was overjoyed at the prospect of moving in with her long-time partner, she was overwhelmed at the prospect of readying her home for sale—fortunately that’s one of my specialties!

Truth be told, it became a family affair.  Because Bonnie is near and dear to my husband and daughter’s hearts, as well as mine, they really wanted to help out to and give back to someone who had given so much.  We banded together to scrub gutters, patch holes, paint a wall, and repair some windows (I’m so lucky to have such a handy family!)

Bonnie’s love and care for her home really shone through.  Her eye for color, love of plants, and gorgeously remodeled kitchen made this home even more special.  And, I happy to report that we weren’t the only ones who noticed! Even in this tough autumn market, Bonnie garnered multiple offers and sold generously over list price!

Having the privilege to give back and to work with someone I truly admire has been an overwhelming delight.  Bonnie and I have officially formed a Mutual Admiration Society, and I cannot even count how many tears of joy and gratitude have been shed.

Thank you, Bonnie for putting your trust in me to guide you through this process and for the joy of getting to spend so much extra time with you!

What I love about the field of real estate is that essentially, it’s about dreams and possibilities. It’s about finding a space that can support the life you are envisioning and crafting.

Whether purchasing your first home, dialing in your next investment property, or selling your home, my goal as your agent is to be your ally and advocate, to work diligently and creatively to help you through the process. What distinguishes me from other REALTORS®? My style in both real estate, and the rest of life, is down to earth and humorous; my spirit warm and enthusiastic. Being flexible, thorough, ethical, and a topnotch communicator are the cornerstones of my business. I am a dedicated worker and won’t stop until I get the job done! I grew up on the East Coast, but my sense of adventure brought me to Oregon, where I found a richness of community, and a great love for the wondrous natural environment of the Northwest.  I spent ten years in this city as a practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, all the while learning about Portland’s neighborhoods, and hidden gems, through the stories of the fascinating people that call this lovely city home. Joyfully part of a dream team, I’m currently partnered with Matt Guy, wonderful human and long time real estate whiz. We work expeditiously to successfully help our clients turn their vision into reality. In my free time you might find me living the VW Van life with my dreamy husband, Scott, and firecracker daughter Roslyn; soaking up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, supporting local non-profits, or celebrating Portland’s local music scene.
