#cabinlife

Hi readers!

I grew up skiing on Mt. Hood – my grandparents owned a bitchin’ cabin in Government Camp, and my cousin Julia and I thought we were hot doggers. Racing pants and neon. Fresh pow on the Glade. Maple bars at the Huckleberry. Pool at the Rat and karaoke at Charlie’s. Ahhh, I’m getting all nostalgic.

So, when my clients Brad and Amy said they were ready to find a second home on Mt. Hood to give their boys the same type of memories, I was thrilled to get to work. We were thorough in understanding the rental market and what options they had for short- and long-term rentals. We knew that leased land from USFS wasn’t going to work. They said they wanted something special, and weren’t afraid to do some elbow work.

Enter the Vaterhaus.

Sitting on a half acre with the Sandy River out the front slider door, this place is magic. It’s a mid century post and beam style, and will be able to sleep 10 when Brad and Amy aren’t there with their kiddos. They have some updates to make and a hot tub to get, and then will be opening it up to rent to lucky folks like you and me. Stay tuned, and reach out if you want more detail.

Not only will this beaut pay for itself, it looks to be a positive net as an income property. We negotiated some pretty substantial credits off the purchase price and it came fully-furnished. Sweet. I am loving that I got to make cabin dreams come true.

Call me if you’re looking to invest in a second home or income property… I’ll treat you to a maple bar and show you the secret sauce.

Till next time, high fives,

Buying the house you’ve been renting

Do you want to buy the house you are renting? While sometimes, that is not possible. Your landlord may not be interested in selling due to their own financial plans or needs. However, sometimes the stars align in your favor. If your landlord is interested in selling their property, please be sure to be represented by an agent, even if they don’t want to be. Of all the things you purchase in your life, this is not a time to cut corners-let an agent help you! While you won’t be going on tour, house hunting…you will need an agent to “comp” (perform a price analysis) the house to be sure you are paying a fair market price, represent you, and negotiate for you during the transaction (which is the most important aspect to the entire process). Not sure how to get the ball rolling, connect with Aryne + Dulcinea and they will guide you through.
