A Local Restauranteur gets a Sweet Treat

Hi Readers!

✨ I LOVE KEY DAY.✨  Seriously, it will never get old. Seeing someone I have spent a LOT of time with over the past month+ walk over the threshold into their new home they worked so hard to get… it’s magic.

When Peter reached out to ask me about real estate I knew he was going to be my kind of client. He said from the start “I’ll know it when I see it” – and he had a very clear vision of what he needed to fulfill his goals.

When I spotted the Water house for him I knew it was a great option for him — but he needed some convincing. He didn’t initially see himself in a black Victorian in S. Portland. But I knew the house had the quirk, character, and most importantly, the KITCHEN this restauranteur needed. Peter owns and operates a delicious sushi restaurant in town called Fish & Rice. Finding a home he could cook and eventually entertain in was critical. When we pulled up and walked in for the first time, I got chills. I looked at Peter. He quietly looked at me and nodded his head. Yes!

We knew it was going to be a competitive situation, because the house was super dialed. Thankfully the relationship I built with the listing agent was collaborative, warm and good from the start. I kept in close contact with Bill (agent) as offers rolled in after Peter’s –we submitted first, by design–to make sure we didn’t miss an opportunity to tweak the offer. And when it came time for the sellers to make a decision, we found out Peter’s offer was accepted because of the strong terms, and also in part because of the relationship I’d built with the agent. That was neat to hear.

Anyhow, after some repair negotiations and a few moments thinking we needed to delay closing because of appraisal back logs* we made it through, and I handed the keys to Peter and his cute Corgi, Olivia, today. So excited for their future in this badass house and can’t wait to go to the housewarming. Congratulations, Peter – it’s been a pleasure partnering with you!

*Appraisals and timelines associated with real estate transactions are starting to feel the pinch of the huge surge in home purchases that Portland is experiencing.

Gone are the days of a shoo-in 30 day closing, expect something closer to 45 days. But that means a new home by Thanksgiving — I’ll help you find a place with all the trimmings. Give me a call: 503 388 2788

Till then, high fives,
