Carly’s Clients!

Leah Rutz was Carly’s client and I had the privilege to work with her briefly in the purchase of her condo. As Carly always did, she stayed in contact with thoughtful notes and timely calls and they became friends as often was the case with Carly.  When Leah called me to help with the sale of that same condo and the purchase of a new home that would accommodate herself and her partner, now both working from home, I was honored to be on the team.
To serve Carly’s people has always been a privilege AND fun, now more than ever it is an honor. I miss Carly and it is actually really nice to have someone to share stories with. It makes me feel closer to my friend. Carly loved her work and, maybe even more, she loved her clients. It feels good to care for Carly’s peeps.
Don’t you worry Carly, we’re here for you <3

A New Home For The Holidays

I first met the Carsons in September. They are a family of four and were living in a condo in the South Waterfront and their balcony was being tear-gassed almost every night of the week because of the protests. They were living in 1000 square feet and they were itching to get out and have more space.

The most important items on their checklist were outdoor space for their two teenage boys, 20 minutes or less for their daily commute to the Pearl, decent schools and a bedroom for each kid. We embarked on a house hunting journey that took us from Forest Heights all the way to Tualatin and in-between.

When we found this house they walked-in and knew they loved it. It had been really nicely remodeled, had a fabulous backyard for their kids to play, two fireplaces, a big garage, an extra family room and enough space for them to all spread out. And bonus, they wouldn’t have to do any work to it, they could just move right in!

We beat out three other offers. Now they can move in just in time to celebrate the Holidays in their brand new home. They can start making memories here together. And bonus points for the kids: the Gabriel Park Skate Park is also just down the street!

Moving to Mt Bike Country!

It is so exciting to see clients and friends’ lives progressing through the lens of working in Real Estate. I met Brandon while working at Plywerk, we got along well and when it came time for Brandon to buy his first home we got him a great place in Lents. The home is great, but on the ‘efficient’ size of things.

Recently, we met again at his home to set up a search for the ‘next’ home. Brandon now has a partner and the desire to get out of town to a home with a bit more room,  and within easy access to Mt Biking trails,  started to take a bigger priority.  We looked in all the little nooks and crannies within an hour of Portland and decided to come back to the first home we toured. Fortunately, this gem was still on the market.

On Monday Brandon and Brook turned the key to their new home in Sandy, OR just a few miles from the Sand Ridge Trail.

“Sandy Ridge is a must-ride area on an Oregon mountain biking road trip, or a great option for Portland based riders looking for fun downhill mountain bike trails.”

Next up will be the sale of the Lents home so keep your eye out and If you’re looking for a real estate professional, give me a call!

Amazing in July!

Derek and Michelle first laid eyes on their lovely Lake Oswego home back in March; March 13th to be exact.  They saw this great house online and given that they lived out of state, wondered if we could “video” it for them.  Property videos are one of our most important tools for our out of area buyers, so with the back drop of school closure announcements due to spreading Covid-19 in our area, I headed down to Lake Oswego to take some fun property videos armed with with tons of hand sanitizer (hard to believe but masks weren’t a thing back then), my phone and my Gimble!  OH, no big deal but it also was just about to start snowing… on March 13th.

As I walked around the incredible 1 acre lot, I recall saying on the video, “well, it’s freezing and gloomy and wet right now, but boy, I bet this place is AMAZING in July”.

Well, it is truly amazing in July.  And while yes, it took a few attempts to get an offer accepted, and yes, Covid-19 made everything harder than it should have been, and yes March 13th seems like a lifetime ago, Derek and Michelle and their three kiddos are moving to Lake Oswego to experience the amazing of Lake Oswego July, in person.

We truly couldn’t be happier for them.  Not everyone has the grit to make an out of state move during a pandemic but if you are up for it like Derek and Michelle, just let us know!  All you need to get started are some fun, HouseLovePDX property videos (and definitely some gloves, masks and lots of hand sanitizer)!
